In addition to serving as a producer at 45 North Films, John Shier has been working as a freelance cinematographer for the past seven years. During this time he’s filmed subjects in Peru, Bolivia, Australia, Mongolia, Canada and the United States. A naturalist as well as a filmmaker , John’s passion in life is working with wild animals in their habitats and his specialty is filming wildlife in remote and challenging locations. John has worked extensively throughout the American West, where he has built a reputation filming grizzly bears. John’s work has appeared on the BBC, Animal Planet, The Discovery Channel, The National Geographic Channel, CNN, CBS and PBS. Most recently, John worked as one of the principal cinematographers on the landmark BBC / Animal Planet natural history series ‘Yellowstone’. The first episode of this series won the 2009 ‘Best Cinematography’ Award at the International Wildlife Film Festival. |
